Driving question: How can we unite Africa through diversity?

Project Descriptor:

This term, the concert became the main project. It focused on celebrating Africa under the theme, A Journey through Africa: From Cape to Cairo. Each grade’s contribution was inspired by the guiding question, How can we unite Africa through diversity? The theme encouraged students to dive into the continent’s vibrant cultural tapestry, aiming to spotlight unity and shared heritage through a mix of perspectives and creative expression.

Subject integration:

Students explored the continent’s diverse cultures, histories, and traditions. Each grade used their studies to create performances and artwork that reflected unique African identities, weaving in music, dance, storytelling and visual art from different regions

Students developed essential life skills by collaborating in groups, communicating ideas, and building cultural awareness.

Students used mathematical concepts to design symmetrical patterns inspired by African textiles, calculate proportions for set designs representing different regions, and explore geometric shapes in traditional art forms

Students crafted scripts, poems, and narrations that wove together the stories of Africa’s diverse cultures.
