Grade: Grade 5
Project Descriptor:
The project aimed to utilise mathematical concepts such as area, perimeter and budgeting to design an environmentally sustainable schoolyard that offers engaging recreational spaces for students. By integrating these mathematical principles with sustainability considerations, we intended to create a space that not only serves the recreational needs of students but also promotes environmental consciousness and stewardship.
Subject integration:
Mathematics – space and shape and measurements (capacity, length, area and perimeter)
Natural Science – matter and material
Life Skills – creative art (designing a structure)
English – language conversions.
