Driving question: How did the mineral revolution shape the past, affect the present and how will it influence the future of South Africa?

Grade: Grade 8

Project Descriptor:

The biggest challenge faced by Africans at the moment is the never-ending cycle of poverty, corruption and no hope for a better nation. Most of these problems stem from historical ignorance or not knowing (and understanding) history enough to not repeat the same mistakes the former African leaders made in their ruling. History serves as a valuable teacher and guide for individuals, societies, and nations. Without it we stand the risk of repeating the past mistakes.

The project looks at teaching people about the Mineral Revolution’s historical significance and its enduring effects on South Africa, including the complex issues of industrialization, labor exploitation and social changes.
