Driving question: How can we showcase and embrace Africa’s beauty and diversity?

Grade: Grade 7

Project Descriptor:

The project focused on educating and documenting the rich and diverse cultures of Africa, while embracing the unique and indigenous beauty of the continent. It explored the cultural background through areas such as rites of passage, including customs and traditions during birth, death and marriage, as well as African tribes and totems. Additionally, it examined the politics and misconceptions surrounding African hair, skin and traditional clothing.

The goal was to create a multidisciplinary archive and catalogue of all African cultures, conveyed through digital storytelling.

Subject integration:

Computing – recommend editing software and advise on the correct exporting format for web and for printing.

English – creative writing skills and concise writing for editorials on various African cultures learned class.

Social Science – educate learners about different counties in Africa and their tribes and cultural history.

Leadership – importance of acknowledging and embracing ones culture and respect for other cultures (inclusivity and diversity).
